Course Overview

This course offers a specialized blend of online learning and hands-on training in ultrasound for emergency medicine at sea. Designed for cruise ship physicians and nurses, the program provides essential skills to perform and interpret ultrasound exams in high-pressure situations, following ACEP guidelines. Participants gain practical knowledge in trauma, cardiovascular, OB/GYN, and musculoskeletal imaging—empowering them to deliver fast, accurate, and effective care onboard.

Practical Workshop: 2 days (16 hours)




The objectives of this course are outlined as follows:


1.- Enhance the proficiency of physicians and nurses serving on cruise ships in utilizing ultrasound for emergency medical scenarios.


2.- Furnish participants with comprehensive instruction in employing ultrasound for emergency medicine, tailored to address the constraints and intricacies encountered in a maritime setting.


3.- Train physicians and nurses to proficiently execute and analyze emergency ultrasound scans across diverse domains, including trauma assessment, acute pelvic and abdominal evaluation, and cardiovascular emergencies.


4.- Acquaint participants with cutting-edge ultrasound equipment and correlated technologies, offering practical exposure and simulations to amplify their technical adeptness.


5.- Educate medical professionals in interpreting ultrasound examination outcomes, enabling swift and effective decision-making during onboard emergency situations.


6.- Empower participants with the requisite skills to apply ultrasound judiciously and securely within the cruise ship's emergency medicine framework, thereby augmenting the standard of medical care extended to passengers and crew.


7.- Amplify participants' diagnostic capabilities and decision-making acumen within emergencies, enabling them to address intricate medical challenges unique promptly and effectively to maritime environments.


By realizing these objectives, physicians and nurses who successfully complete this course will be aptly prepared to deliver superior medical care and ensure a timely and suitable response to emergency circumstances onboard cruise ships.
